Metsola to visit Cyprus to encourage EU election participation

European Parliament (EP) President Roberta Metsola, on Wednesday said she would visit Cyprus to encourage Cypriot citizens to vote in the upcoming European elections.

In statements to Cypriot journalists, who are in Strasbourg this week to cover the EP’s plenary session, and, asked, to send a message to Cyprus, Metsola said that Cyprus “has always been very close to my heart”.

She noted that she has visited the country “quite a few times”, since she was elected President of the EP, “and I look forward to coming in the next few months, in order to encourage Cypriot citizens to vote in the European elections from June 6 to 9.”

“It is extremely important, as the largest multinational democratic exercise that we will see on this continent this year, and please, vote, otherwise, others will decide for you”, she said.
