Foreign Minister continues New York meetings with counterparts, announces humanitarian assistance to DRC

Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos has announced the provision to the Democratic Republic of the Congo of €100,000 in humanitarian assistance via the WHO's relevant program, through CyprusAid.

Kombos, who continues his meetings with counterparts on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, held his first meeting with his DRC counterpart, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner.

On a post on 'X', Kombos wrote that they explored ways to further strengthen the framework of bilateral relations and that he expressed support for all efforts in dealing with the Ebola outbreak and announced the provision of €100,000 in humanitarian assistance via the relevant WHO program, through CyprusAid.

 

 

Meanwhile, during his meeting with his counterpart from Bahrain, Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Kombos reiterated Cyprus’ solidarity for Bahrain in light of the recent attacks.

He said that they also reviewed regional developments and conveyed commitment to continue their work on enhancing their bilateral cooperation.

Moreover, they discussed EU-Bahrain relations ahead of October’s EU-GCC Summit.

 

 

Among other contacts, Kombos, also met with the Foreign Secretary of the Philippines Theresa P. Lazaro with whom he signed an MoU on Cooperation in Higher Education, "reflecting the growing momentum in Cyprus-Philippines relations".

"Conveyed decision to endorse the Manila Declaration on Seafarers’ Human Rights, Safety and Well-being," he added.
