Rise in value and volume of retail trade in November 2023

Cyprus recorded upward trends in retail trade during November 2023, as revealed by data released by CySTAT.

More specifically, the Retail Trade Turnover Value Index increased by 5.7% compared to the same month last year, with a cumulative growth of 9.4% for the period January to November 2023.

The most substantial increases in value were observed in the retail trade of food, beverages, and tobacco in specialised stores (13.4%) and in edible products (10%).

In the same month, the Retail Trade Turnover Volume Index grew by 5.6% compared to November of the previous year, contributing to an overall increase of 6.1% for the period January to November 2023.

The most significant volume increases were recorded in a category encompassing Computers and telecommunications equipment, curtains, carpets, books, stationery, sporting equipment, toys, flowers, plants, watches, jewellery, etc. (11.5%), as well as in the retail trade of food, beverages, and tobacco in specialized stores (9.3%).
