New unit to be created for aircraft maintenance and repair in Larnaca

An aircraft engine repair/maintenance unit owned by UAMCO Ltd United Aerospace Maintenance Company Ltd is to be constructed in Aradippou Industrial Area.

The proposed project, which has secured the approval of the Department of the Environment, concerns the construction of an aircraft engine maintenance workshop, which consists of a ground floor area, a mezzanine, a first-floor, and roof space with a total area of ​​2,997 sq.m.

Four maintenance workshops

The plots for the proposed development are located in the area known as 'Exogi,' within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality of Aradippou.

According to the environmental report, the proposed development will include four maintenance workshops, one of which will be air-conditioned at a constant temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, office spaces and meeting and training rooms, as well as other auxiliary spaces that include a kitchen, sanitary facilities, stairwells, etc.

The capacity of the laboratory for the maintenance of aircraft engines is estimated at approximately 30 engines per year.

At the same time, according to the design, it is expected to include a private parking area with 33 spaces on the ground floor of the proposed development, two of which are to be suitably configured for use by people with disabilities, an internal road network for the movement of trucks and vehicles for the operational needs of the proposed development, and also fencing and tree planting in the outdoor/exterior ground floor area of ​​the proposed development.

Ready in one year

Construction is expected to cover approximately 2,798 sq.m., which corresponds to approximately 98.2% of the total site area of ​​the proposed development. This includes the proposed development, internal road network, and car parks.

The raw materials for the construction of the project are aluminum, metal sheets with thermal insulation, glass, and metal panels. It is estimated that the completion time will be 12 months.

In the south and southeast, the proposed parcels adjoin a green space/separation lane, then they meet an agricultural parcel, while to the north they adjoin a public footpath.

Within the development plot is an existing building, which will be demolished upon the commencement of construction work on the proposed development/aircraft engine maintenance workshop.

The plot under study is located 920 meters northwest of the border of the residential area of ​​the Municipality of Aradippou and at a distance of 4.3 km southwest of Larnaca International Airport.

The nearest Natura 2000 protected area is located 1650 meters southeast and is the Larnaca Salt Lakes.
