Annual industrial production up by 3% in April, 3.8% in Q1 2025

Industrial production increased by 3.0% in April compared to April last year, according to CySTAT, while an increase of 3.8% was recorded in the period January - April 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.

More specifically, according to CySTAT, the Industrial Production Index for April 2025 reached 110.3 points (base 2021=100), recording an increase of 3.0% compared to April 2024.

During the period January - April 2025, the index increased by 3.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.

The manufacturing and water supply and material recovery sectors recorded increases of 3.1% and 12.6% respectively compared to April 2024, a negative change was recorded in the mining and quarrying sector (-8.4%), while the electricity supply sector remained stable compared to April 2024.

In the manufacturing sector, according to CySTAT, the most significant positive changes compared to April 2024 were recorded in the manufacturing of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment (+13.7%), other non-metallic mineral products (+11.1%), rubber and plastic products (+8.0%) and wood industry and wood and cork products, except furniture (+6.3%).

On the other hand, the most significant negative changes were observed in the manufacturing of paper and paper products and printing (-18.2%), refined petroleum products, chemicals and chemical products, and pharmaceutical products and preparations (-5.3%) and manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel and leather products (-4.2%).

Comparing the rates of change for the period January-April 2025 with the corresponding period of 2024, the most significant increases were observed, according to CySTAT, in the manufacture of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment (+14.7%), water collection, treatment and supply (+10.6%) and the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products (+10.2%).

The only activities that saw decreases in production compared to the period January-April 2024 were the manufacturing of paper and paper products and printing (-15.2%), textiles, clothing and leather products (-3.4%) and the manufacturing of refined petroleum products, chemicals and pharmaceutical products and preparations (-0.4%), CySTAT concludes.
