An investment proposition needs more than attractive return forecasts to secure capital. Investors assess management, structure, transparency and participation terms. For fund managers, successful fundraising requires alignment between investment strategy and market access.
Bo Zhang, Partner at Unsquared Partners, UK, will bring his perspective to the 12th International Funds Summit, taking place on 16 November 2026 at Parklane, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Limassol.
At Unsquared Partners, Zhang leads Investor Relations and Capital Formation. His experience spans traditional portfolio management and digital financial infrastructure, bringing complementary perspectives to the discussion on international fundraising.
Previously, he served as Head of Investments and COO at Function, helping deploy $1.6 billion in Bitcoin capital through on-chain yield-generation mechanisms. At Canton Network, he led institutional market development across the US and Europe.
Earlier, within JP Morgan’s Chief Investment Office team, he helped manage $600 billion in client assets across equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities. He holds an MBA from London Business School.
His Summit participation forms part of the session on capital raising and cross-border distribution. The discussion will examine how funds reach investors across jurisdictions and through different distribution channels.
Institutional investors and private wealth networks have distinct requirements. Investment horizons, liquidity needs and reporting expectations influence product selection. An effective distribution strategy must account for these differences from the outset.
The session will explore partnerships with platforms and placement specialists, alongside semi-liquid and evergreen structures. The objective is broader access supported by a clear understanding of how an investment’s characteristics correspond to investor expectations.
Meanwhile, AIFMD II brings liquidity management, transparency, delegation and substance requirements into the discussion. These considerations will be examined in relation to managers’ organisational arrangements and operating costs.
Domicile selection adds another strategic dimension. Luxembourg, Ireland, Cyprus and other European centres will be considered through structuring flexibility, regulatory responsiveness, and tax and operational factors.
For Cyprus, the opportunity involves strengthening its position as a base for international investment structures connecting Europe, the Middle East and other markets.
For fund managers, investors and advisers, Zhang’s participation offers an opportunity to exchange experience around a fundamental challenge: translating an investment proposition into a lasting relationship built on trust.
The Summit provides a setting to connect these decisions with the practical demands of fundraising. As managers plan their next phase of growth, understanding investor priorities and choosing appropriate structures and distribution partners will remain central to their ability to attract capital across borders.
