EnergyIntel and Redox One working together to advance Cyprus’s energy future

EnergyIntel and Redox One identified significant opportunities for collaboration during the LDES Council Annual Member Meeting in Madrid on 6–7 October 2026, placing Cyprus at the centre of their shared ambitions for manufacturing, deployment and international growth.

The discussions highlighted the potential for cooperation to contribute directly to the island’s energy transition. By combining complementary storage technologies, the two companies could help address a central challenge: making renewable energy available when businesses, industry and the electricity system need it.

For Cyprus, the opportunity extends beyond storing electricity. Long-duration energy storage can support greater use of solar generation, reduce renewable energy losses and help meet demand beyond daylight hours.

Alongside electricity storage, thermal storage can support industrial heat requirements, opening further opportunities to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Deploying these solutions could strengthen energy resilience and give businesses more options for managing their energy supply and costs.

Both companies reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining their headquarters in Cyprus and supporting the development of industrial activities on the island. As EnergyIntel advances plans for its proposed manufacturing facility, the company highlighted the potential for its future site to accommodate a range of complementary activities. From Redox One's perspective, Cyprus serves as a strategic gateway to Southern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, and the company expressed openness to exploring the establishment of a regional production or assembly facility on the island as its commercial activities expand. This alignment creates an opportunity for further discussions regarding potential manufacturing synergies and shared infrastructure requirements.

Such collaboration could connect local production with local deployment: building storage capabilities in Cyprus while demonstrating their value in the island’s own energy market. It could also support specialised employment, opportunities for Cypriot suppliers and closer links between industry and research.

“Our ambition is for Cyprus to produce technologies that can help shape its own energy future and compete internationally. Working with Redox One could bring together manufacturing investment, complementary storage solutions and access to new markets. For the island, this is an opportunity to turn energy challenges into industrial growth and greater energy resilience,” said Eugenia Herodotou, CEO of EnergyIntel.

The companies also explored how their combined international networks could support business growth and market expansion. Redox One's established relationships across multiple regions, including South Africa, may create opportunities for joint project development, while the parties' broader industry connections could help identify opportunities for coordinated sourcing, manufacturing efficiencies, supply chain optimisation and economies of scale.

“Cyprus can become a base for energy storage production and a market that demonstrates what these technologies can achieve. Our discussions with EnergyIntel revealed opportunities to support more reliable renewable energy supply while building expertise, employment and export potential on the island. We see considerable value in developing these opportunities together,” said Thomas Gebauer, CEO of Redox One.

Both companies also expressed their willingness to jointly propose Cyprus as the host of the LDES Council Annual Member Meeting in October 2027. Subject to the Council’s agreement, hosting the event would bring international energy leaders, customers and investors to Cyprus, creating a platform to showcase local capabilities and attract further partnerships.

EnergyIntel and Redox One will continue discussions regarding collaboration opportunities, with a shared ambition to strengthen Cyprus’s energy market and establish the island as a competitive base for energy storage production and international growth.
