Cyprus is showing a stronger sustainability profile than Europe and the wider global Synesgy population, according to Simone Rampichini, Senior Director at CRIF, who presented the latest Synesgy Global Observatory at the 3rd Credit Risk and Sustainability Conference.
Introducing the findings, Rampichini thanked Cypriot companies, banks, supply-chain organisations and partners using Synesgy, saying their work was “really becoming excellence in the panorama of the world.”
Rampichini said Synesgy’s global database now tracks almost 600,000 companies across 180 countries, representing a combined turnover of €15.6 trillion. The latest 2026 mid-year update, based on data through June 30, shows continued improvement in average sustainability scores among companies using the platform.
He highlighted the link between sustainability and commercial risk, arguing that companies actively engaging with Synesgy, completing certifications, obtaining scores and following action plans show a stronger commercial risk profile.
“A company that’s caring about sustainability has less risk from a commercial standpoint,” Rampichini said.
The Observatory also shows that companies which repeatedly assess their sustainability performance tend to achieve better results than those completing the process only once.
Turning specifically to Cyprus, Rampichini said the country’s distribution of Synesgy-scored companies compares favourably with Europe and the global population. Cyprus showed a stronger presence in higher sustainability categories, particularly the B range, while having fewer companies in the lower D category.
“I’m really impressed by this,” he said, stressing that greater transparency can help Cypriot companies attract suppliers, banking partners and international investors.
“Cyprus is going to attract,” Rampichini said, linking improved sustainability performance and transparency with the country’s ability to demonstrate its strengths to international markets.
