Dinos Lefkaritis: From a petroleum company, Petrolina is looking ahead and becoming an energy company

It became known as a petroleum company, however, having entered the third generation, Petrolina is looking ahead and becoming an energy company.

"We started dealing with everything related to energy, which is linked to innovation, since there are solutions, such as electricity, hydrogen and other forms of energy, which will come to the fore and which Petrolina has been monitoring in recent years," said Dinos Lefkaritis, CEO of Petrolina (Holdings) Public Ltd, at INSPIRE 2026.

Speaking at a panel on "Innovation in Established Businesses", he referred to the establishment of new companies, such as Petrolina Electric and Petrolina Solar, the car chargers that the company has installed throughout Cyprus, and envisioned new business moves, stating that "we are creating others that will come along the way."

The greatest achievements

The transfer of the company's infrastructure, namely the transfer of the terminal from Larnaca to Vasiliko and the acquisition of ExxonMobil Cyprus are the company's greatest achievements, according to Lefkaritis.

In particular, regarding the transfer of the terminal to Vasiliko, he commented that it could not be done at the push of a button and that many bureaucratic procedures had to be carried out, which significantly delayed development, as is happening today with the Land of Tomorrow project on the Larnaca-Dhekelia beachfront, for which "we have been waiting for the permits for three years."

Regarding the acquisition of ExxonMobil Cyprus, he explained that "it was a great achievement" for the company, since it made it the largest energy group in Cyprus.

"A CEO should not be afraid of anything and should take risks, he should take the risk, no one else," is the advice Lefkaritis gave in response to a related question.
