Industrial production in July recorded an annual increase of 1.5%, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
In a press release, the Statistical Service says that in July 2026 the Industrial Production Index reached 129.2 units (base 2021=100), recording an increase of 1.5% compared to July 2025.
For the period January – July 2026, the index recorded an increase of 1.6% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The manufacturing sector registered an increase of 1.5% compared to July 2025. An increase was also observed in water supply and materials recovery (+8.2%) and mining and quarrying (+6.0%). A negative change was observed in the electricity supply sector (-1.1%).
In the manufacturing sector, the most significant positive changes compared to July 2025 were observed in the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products (+6.0%), the manufacturing of wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture (+5.1%), the manufacturing of furniture, other manufacturing and repair and installation of machinery and equipment (+3.8%) and the manufacturing of basic metals and fabricated metal products (+3.7%).
The only negative changes were observed in the manufacturing of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles and other transport equipment (-6.8%), the manufacturing of paper and paper products and printing (-4.7%) and the manufacturing of refined petroleum products, chemicals and chemical products and pharmaceutical products and preparations (-2.9%).
Comparing the rates of change for the period January – July 2026 against the corresponding period of the previous year, the most significant positive changes were observed in water collection, treatment and supply (+11.7%), the manufacturing of basic metals and fabricated metal products (+5.7%) and the manufacturing of wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture (+4.8%).
The activities where the most significant negative changes in production were registered compared to the period January – July 2025 were those relating to materials recovery (-6.6%) and the manufacturing of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles and other transport equipment (-5.5%).
