Airfares in Cyprus increased by 5% in August 2026 compared with the same month in 2025, while package holiday prices rose by 3.7%.
According to data published by Eurostat, passenger air transport prices across the EU decreased by 0.4%, while package holiday prices increased by 3.2%, matching the overall inflation rate.
Eurostat reported that the largest annual increases in airfares in August were recorded in Greece, at 16.3%, and Ireland, at 14.4%. By contrast, airfare prices fell in ten EU member states, with Slovakia recording the largest decline, at 61.2%. In the other countries where decreases were recorded, they ranged from 15.8% in Spain to 0.9% in Lithuania.
As regards package holidays, Belgium recorded the largest annual price increase, at 16.2%, followed by Portugal at 14.3%, Sweden at 12.8%, Lithuania at 12.3% and Romania at 11.9%.
By contrast, four EU member states recorded decreases in package holiday prices. The largest decline was recorded in Estonia, at 21.1%, followed by Spain at 5.2%, Italy at 4.8% and Ireland at 0.4%.
