Building Contractors Association of Cyprus AGM underlines efforts for a strong construction industry

The message that the Building Contractors Association of Cyprus (SEOK) remains firmly committed to its mission of contributing to the development, modernisation and progress of the construction industry was sent by the association's President, Stelios Gabriel, from the podium of its 82nd Annual General Assembly.

The Association, which is a member of the Federation of Building Contractors Associations of Cyprus (OSEOK), held its General Assembly on Tuesday, 9 June with the impressive participation of CBCBA members and professionals in the construction sector.

In a speech delivered by the President of SEOK, he took stock of the Association's work and actions, noting that in recent years, a significant effort has been made to highlight the role and contribution of the construction industry to the development of the country. "We have made it clear that construction industry professionals are a key pillar of the economy and essential partners in the implementation of small and large projects that shape modern Cyprus and its future," he said.

Gabriel also noted that the SEOK has established its position as a reliable and responsible interlocutor of the state and the competent bodies, contributing substantially to the formulation of policies and decisions that affect the sector.

As Gabriel mentioned, during the last few years, the Association has been at the forefront of developments, submitting documented positions and recommendations on a number of important issues of concern, including the Collective Agreement of the construction industry, the strike in the ready-mix concrete sector, the ETEK Register of Designers and Supervisory Engineers, tax reform, public contracts and Cyprus Joint Construction Contracts Tribunal contracts.

In closing, the President of the SEOK reiterated the Association's commitment to continue working consistently and responsibly to promote the interests of the sector, strengthening cooperation with all stakeholders and actively contributing to shaping the conditions for a strong, modern and sustainable construction industry.
