Michalis Papadopoulos, CEO Velicor Consulting: For most businesses, the problem is not technology but coherence

In an era in which artificial intelligence, data, and digital platforms dominate the public debate about the future of business, many companies still face a less visible but particularly critical problem: the complexity and fragmentation of how they operate.

For Michalis Papadopoulos, founder and CEO of Velicor Consulting, the real issue is not the lack of technology but the lack of coherence in the way organisations operate.

"Most businesses today have already invested in technology. The problem is that often systems, processes and teams operate in a fragmented manner," he notes in an interview with InBusinessNews, in which he talks about the challenges facing Cypriot businesses today, the role of leadership in the transformation of organisations and Velicor Consulting's strategic partnership with the international TechIns group.

Through Velicor Consulting, Papadopoulos collaborates with organisations that seek to redesign the way they operate, connecting strategy, leadership, processes and technology into what he describes as an Enterprise Operating System (EOS).

What are the main services offered by Velicor Consulting and which organisations are they aimed at?

Velicor Consulting specialises in business transformation and redesigning the way organisations operate.

Our goal is to help businesses and organisations address the complexity of the modern economy through a more integrated approach that combines strategy, leadership, processes and technology.

Our services revolve around three main axes.

The first concerns strategic transformation, where we help organisations define their strategic direction and translate it into specific business actions.

The second axis concerns the redesign of the business architecture, that is, the processes, organisational structures and operating models that determine how a business operates.

The third axis concerns the alignment of leadership and governance structures, so that the management team operates with a shared vision and a clear division of responsibilities.

Velicor is primarily aimed at organisations that are in a phase of growth, transformation or digital transition and who realise that adopting new technologies alone is not enough without a total redesign of their way of operating.

What is the company's vision and main goals for the coming years?

Our vision is for Velicor Consulting to become a strategic business transformation partner for organisations in Cyprus and the wider region.

We believe that many businesses have significant growth potential, but are often limited by issues of strategic clarity, organisational structure, or operational processes.

Our ambition is to help organisations unlock these potentials through a more systematic and integrated approach to management.

In the coming years, we want to focus on three main goals.

First, to actively contribute to the transformation of Cypriot businesses, helping them become more competitive and resilient.

Second, to develop modern business transformation methodologies and tools that can be practically applied by organisations in different sectors.

And third, to contribute to the broader dialogue around strategy, leadership and organisational transformation through articles, presentations and collaborations.

What do you consider to be the biggest problems facing Cypriot businesses today?

Cypriot businesses today operate in an environment that is becoming increasingly complex and competitive.

In my opinion, there are three problems that are the most significant.

The first is the lack of a systematic strategic approach. Many businesses operate based on the immediate needs of everyday life without a clear strategic framework.

The second concerns organisational complexity. Many organisations grow without simultaneously evolving the processes and structures that support that growth.

The third is the ability to adapt to change. In a rapidly changing world, organisations need a culture of learning and adaptability.

In this context, consulting can act as a catalyst for change, offering an external, objective perspective and structured methodologies that help organisations redesign the way they operate.

What is the role of technology and innovation in business transformation?

Technology is a major accelerator of transformation. However, one of the biggest mistakes we see is that many businesses treat digital transformation as simply adopting new tools.

In reality, transformation is not just about technology but about the architecture of how the business operates.

The recent strategic collaboration between Velicor Consulting and the international TechIns group also falls within this framework.

This collaboration brings to the Cypriot market an integrated ecosystem of business platforms that functions as a single operating system for the enterprise, unifying data, processes and functions in a common environment.

In this way, businesses can leverage technologies such as artificial intelligence and analytics not just as tools but as part of a comprehensive business model.

The important thing is that technology enhances the human factor and not replace it.

What is the role of leadership in times of great change?

Leadership is perhaps the most important factor in any transformation effort.

Transformation is not just about strategy or technology. It is primarily about people.

Leaders must provide direction, build trust, and explain the meaning of the changes taking place within the organisation.

Organisations that succeed in transformation are those where leadership takes an active role and does not treat change as a project only for consultants or technology.
