How Κyndryl Cyprus not only supports IΤ systems but empowers the people who keep them running

There is something quietly confident about a company that operates well –a steady rhythm of progress, a sense of momentum that balances rootedness with ambition. It knows where it stands and it knows where it is going. That balance between home and horizon seems to define Kyndryl, the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider, which was formed in 2021 from the spin-off of IBM’s infrastructure services business.

“It is evident that Cyprus has recognised the potential of technology in driving economic growth, enhancing efficiency and improving services,” says Andrie Panayiotou, Office Manager at Kyndryl Cyprus. The company’s decision to establish a fully operational local entity in Cyprus is, she notes, acknowledgement of the country’s strategic importance.

“Our presence in Nicosia allows us to support and grow existing and new meaningful partnerships in the region and to expand into sectors like public services and financial institutions,” Panayiotou explains. For Cyprus, it is a vote of confidence from a US multinational. For Kyndryl, it is a platform for growth aligned with a global strategy that looks forward, not sideways. “We aim to not only maintain our presence here but also to expand in line with our global strategy. The support we have received in recent years while establishing the company and transitioning to our new operating model has been exceptional!”

At the heart of Kyndryl’s strength are its people – more than 70,000 professionals worldwide – as well as advanced technologies built on data, intellectual property and strong partnerships. The Cyprus team has grown steadily over the years, driven by expansion into banking, insurance and public sector projects, alongside new client acquisitions that continue to shape its trajectory. Today, Kyndryl Cyprus works with leading organisations, helping them shape long-term IT strategies through digitalisation and the development of digital platforms. The collaboration extends beyond the private sector. The team works closely with government and local authorities, offering input and support on technology-related matters.

What binds this work together is what the company calls ‘The Kyndryl Way’ – a culture that underpins everything it does and is built by being Restless (to continuously anticipate, learn and innovate), Empathetic (to serve with trust and transparency), Devoted (to shared success), Flat (to empower accountable and inclusive teams), Fast (to cultivate simplicity everywhere) and Focused (to deliver best-in-class services). “Employees describe Kyndryl as inclusive, collaborative and mission-driven – a place where trust, learning and customer impact matter,” Panayiotou enthuses.

For learning and upskilling, employees have access to more than 100,000 learning resources, certification paths, mentoring and hands-on experience through global and regional projects. The company invests heavily in cybersecurity, cloud, hybrid infrastructure and data skills, while local teams benefit from knowledge sharing through client projects and community tech events. Opportunities to work on cutting-edge systems are not reserved for a few; they are part of the ecosystem. Growth is expected, supported and shared.

The physical space mirrors that philosophy. Kyndryl’s new Nicosia office is designed for the way people actually work – collaborative, flexible and future-ready. Built to support hybrid work and modern technology enablement, the space enhances productivity while strengthening team cohesion, designed for connection, not confinement.

Listening is another cornerstone. Engagement is measured through global tools such as Viva Glint, with feedback from Cyprus consistently highlighting themes like communication, career clarity, training time and process efficiency. “Based on this, our teams create action plans to drive continuous improvement. This feedback guides our action plans” says  Andrie Panayiotou.

Balance, too, is treated as a lived value rather than a slogan. Work-life balance at Kyndryl means flexible arrangements, hybrid options and a culture centred on wellbeing and belonging. Employees value autonomy and trust – the freedom to manage professional and personal priorities with confidence, not compromise. That trust is reinforced through benefits that support both body and mind: medical coverage, mental health resources, gym facilities, meal allowances through common food delivery platforms, volunteer days, and global wellbeing programmes. Sustainability and community initiatives, such as One Tree Planted, resonate strongly, reflecting a broader sense of responsibility that extends beyond the office walls.

Slowly but surely, through its people-centric culture, deep technical expertise, growing footprint in Cyprus across banking, the public sector and innovation ecosystems, the provision of a modern workspace and meaningful career paths supported by continuous learning, Kyndryl is not just building systems. It is building confidence in technology and in people.
