The Larnaca-Tel Aviv connection is among the ten largest international air routes in Europe, based on planned capacity for August 2026, according to OAG data presented by Business Traveller.
With approximately 192,000 scheduled seats available, this connection between Cyprus and Israel ranks 8th in the European ranking, equal in capacity to the Dubai-London Heathrow connection. At the top of the European list is the New York-London Heathrow route, with 330,000 seats.
Larnaca's presence in the ranking highlights the importance of the Cyprus-Israel connection in the European aviation network, as the route is included in the ten largest European international connections based on scheduled capacity.
Overall, the August picture shows the big picture of global air connectivity, with Asian markets dominating international routes. The Hong Kong-Taipei route is in first place globally with approximately 589,000 seats available, while eight of the top ten international routes are in the Asia-Pacific region.
It is noted that OAG's data concerns planned air capacity and not the actual number of passengers or flight occupancy. However, it provides a picture of the routes on which airlines have allocated a significant number of seats and, by extension, the dynamics of international air connections.
