The average interest rates for household deposits (new business) in Cyprus showed a slight decrease in October 2025, compared to the previous month, while the average interest rate for housing loans and loans to businesses recorded a small increase.
This is according to data published by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) in relation to deposit and loan interest rates for each credit institution.
Mortgage interest rates
According to CBC data, the average interest rate for eurozone residents purchasing a house in euros (new business - new contracts - regardless of initial determination period) increased in October 2025 to 3.08%, from 3.03% in September 2025. The corresponding interest rate in the eurozone was 3.33%.
The highest mortgage interest rate in October 2025, according to available data, was that of the Housing Finance Corporation with 3.37% (from 3.35% in September), followed by the Bank of Cyprus with 3.23% (from 3.16%), Ancoria with 3.00% (from 3.24%) and Eurobank Cyprus with 2.95% (no data for September).
Reduction in interest rates on loans to businesses
The average interest rate for new loans to businesses up to €1 million (new business-new contracts - regardless of initial determination period) decreased to 4.25% in October 2025, from 4.20% in the previous month. The corresponding interest rate in the eurozone is not given.
The highest interest rate was at Banque SBA with 6.61% (from 6.35% in September), followed by Societe Generale with 5.63% (from 4.22%), Bank of Cyprus with 4.45% (from 4.36%) and National Bank of Greece with 4.25% (from 3.53%). The lowest was at Eurobank with 3.87% (no data for September).
Household deposit rates drop
Furthermore, the average interest rate on term deposits of up to 1 year for households fell to 1.07% in October 2025, compared to 1.10% in the previous month. The corresponding rate in the eurozone was 1.77%.
The highest interest rate was given by Arab Jordan Investment Bank with 2.00% and the lowest by Societe Generale with 0.80%.
The second highest interest rate on deposits to households was given by Ancoria with 1.43% (from 1.26%), followed by the National Bank of Greece with 1.41% (from 1.44%).
Reduction in interest rates on corporate deposits
According to CBC data, the average interest rate on term deposits of up to 1 year for companies decreased in October 2025 to 1.23%, from 1.24% in September 2025, while in the eurozone the interest rate was at 1.91%, from 1.90%.
The highest interest rate was recorded at the Cyprus Development Bank with 1.72% (up from 1.05% in September 2025), followed by Alpha Bank with 1.71% (up from 1.38%). The lowest was recorded by the Housing Finance Corporation with 0.36% (up from 0.01%).
