The decisive role of entrepreneurship as a force for progress for Cyprus was highlighted at the 12th KEBE Business Leader Awards ceremony by the General Manager of Genikes Insurance, Christiana Agrotis.
She emphasised that, in a global environment that is rapidly changing due to geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainties, the climate crisis and the explosive growth of artificial intelligence, businesses are called upon to adapt, innovate and dare.
Agrotis underlined that the KEBE Business Leader Awards honour visionary leaders, people who open new paths and transform talent and knowledge into a driving force for a modern, competitive Cyprus. She also spoke about the fundamental role of trust in the insurance industry, stating that each contract constitutes a commitment to support in the most difficult times. A typical example is the immediate response of Genikes Insurance to the devastating fires in the mountainous Limassol, with compensation of €4.5 million, as a practical contribution to the economy.
Concluding, she pointed out that the future belongs to those who dare to shape it, leveraging technology, remaining people-oriented and creating value solutions.
Christiana Agrotis' full speech, translated from the original Greek, follows:
"Your Excellency President of the Republic of Cyprus,
Honorable Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Honorable Ministers and Members of Parliament,
Mr. President of the CCCI,
distinguished guests,
Ladies and gentlemen.
Good evening.
It is truly a great honour for all of us at Genikes Insurance to support the KEBE Business Leader Awards, an institution that highlights excellence, leadership and entrepreneurship in our country.
Tonight we are rewarding business excellence as a lever for progress. Especially today, in the midst of rapid geopolitical and economic changes, such as the war between Ukraine and Russia, the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, the impacts of the climate crisis, but also the explosive developments in artificial intelligence, require the adaptation of all business sectors. In this environment, entrepreneurship opens new paths, investing in ideas and technologies, transforming talent and knowledge into a driving force for the creation of a modern, dynamic and competitive Cyprus.
The 12th KEBE Business Leader Awards honour visionary leaders who dare to innovate and inspire. This is precisely the vision that we have supported at Genikes Insurance since our establishment in 1951, as the first Cypriot insurance company.
In the insurance industry, trust is our foundation. Every contract is a promise to stand by our businesses and our fellow human beings in their most difficult moments, allowing them to continue to envision and pioneer.
Our commitment to support is not just words. When the devastating fires hit the mountainous Limassol region, we responded immediately, paying compensation of €4.5 million, supporting the Cypriot economy in practice. For us, this is the core of our mission. Of course, trust alone is not enough.
The future belongs to those who dare; they dare to evolve, to utilise technology with a customer-centric approach as the main guiding principle and the goal of creating value solutions.
The future belongs to those who dare to shape it”.
The 12th KEBE BUSINESS LEADER AWARDS were jointly organised by the CCCI and IMH and presented by Genikes Insurance. The Gold Sponsor was European University Cyprus and the Silver Sponsors were Primetel and Sklavenitis. The event was supported by OPAP Cyprus. The communication sponsors were IN Business and Omega.
