Transforming HR at Cosmos Insurance: How OneJar and OrangeHRM drive digital change

In this interview, the HR Manager of Cosmos Insurance Company Public Ltd shares their perspective on the transition to OrangeHRM and the benefits already being realised.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a few words about your company?

My name is Yianna Talioti and I am the Human Resources Manager at Cosmos Insurance Company Public Ltd, a well-established insurance company headquartered in Nicosia with a presence in all districts of Cyprus. With a team of approximately 70 employees, Cosmos Insurance has built a strong reputation in the local insurance market, offering a wide range of general insurance products. My role in the company involves being responsible for all human resources management matters, while also working closely with the executive team to ensure a balanced, supportive, and productive working environment.

What were the main problems you faced in HR that led you to search for a new HRM system?

As our company grows and adapts to a digital business environment, it became clear that the existing HR processes could no longer meet our needs. Manual leave tracking, lack of visibility in employee data, inefficient communication between HR and other departments, combined with the need for a technologically advanced working environment for our staff, were some of the main challenges. We needed a system that would unify HR functions, support compliance obligations, and provide both employees and managers with real-time access to information through a user-friendly and enjoyable interface, both on desktop and mobile.

What led you to choose OneJar and OrangeHRM as your HRM solution of choice?

We were looking for a partner who understands the local market and international HR best practices, and who could “step into our shoes” by adapting the program to our own particularities, practices, and processes. With the support of our CFO, Andreas Mama, we made it a personal goal and dedicated time and effort to identify the best solution for our company and its members. OneJar, with its deep knowledge of the Cypriot business landscape and excellent customer service, combined with the international experience and flexibility of OrangeHRM, proved to be the ideal solution for us. This combination ensured not only the implementation of a system but also the introduction of a strategic tool for HR in our Organisation.

What factors influenced your decision to choose OneJar and OrangeHRM over other HR software solutions?

Our decision was based on several key factors, including the platform’s simple design, its user-friendly environment, and its adaptability to our Company’s structure and policies. In addition, we greatly appreciated the responsiveness and professionalism of the OneJar team, who from the very first meeting deeply understood our needs and with a positive attitude demonstrated the program’s capabilities, showing how they could address our concerns and requirements.

How was the implementation process?

We are still in the implementation phase, as the program consists of several modules. However, we have already completed some important tools, with the first and most significant for us being the leave management module, which has now been rolled out across the entire Organisation. The process so far has been very well organised, and the guidance provided by the team implementing the customisation and deployment of the modules has been highly professional.

What kind of support did you receive from OneJar team?

We received excellent support from the OneJar team at every stage of the process. From the initial design and customization to testing and going live, they were present, available, and solution-oriented.

How has OneJar and OrangeHRM transformed your HR processes?

Although we are still at the early stages of implementation, OrangeHRM has already significantly improved the way leave requests and approvals are managed, as well as visibility between departments. It has helped us standardise processes, reduce time spent on manual tasks, and improve communication among teams. Most importantly, it enables Managers to take greater responsibility for the administrative aspects of their teams, while also allowing employees to have direct and easy access to essential information.

8. What advice would you give to other companies considering implementing HR software?

Start with a clear understanding of your internal needs and ensure alignment between HR and Senior Management. Choose a partner who listens, adapts, collaborates closely with your team, and responds promptly. Most importantly, place emphasis on proper communication and staff training, which I believe are the foundation of any successful implementation. A system is only as effective as the understanding and commitment of its users.
