The University of Limassol hosted a significant event on 12 November 2025 at its Nicosia Campus, welcoming H.E. Manish, High Commissioner of India to Cyprus, for his first official visit to the University.
The visit, held from 10:00 to 13:00, marked an important milestone in the University’s expanding engagement with India, its institutions and people.
The High Commissioner was accompanied by Subhash Jangala, First Secretary for Economic Affairs, and was joined by the President of the University Council, Socrates Ellinas, Vice-President of the Council Costas Pantelides, the Rector, Professor Theodore Panayotou, Vice-Rector Prof. Demetra Sorvatzioti, and the university's CEO Panayiotis Sentonas, along with university academic and administrative staff, and the Indian students currently enrolled at the University of Limassol. The occasion also celebrated the arrival of four visiting students from the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, further highlighting the University’s commitment to fostering academic mobility and international collaboration.
The visit began with an official welcome address by the Founding Rector of UoL, Professor Panayotou, and the Vice-Rector of International Affairs, Professor Sorvatzioti, followed by a comprehensive presentation of the University of Limassol, its vision, mission and internationalisation strategy. Attendees received an overview of the University’s long-standing cooperation with the Indian Institute of Management of Kozhikode and engaged in productive discussions on expanding partnerships with Indian universities and institutions.
The event concluded with a reception and light lunch, providing an opportunity for open dialogue and deeper interaction between representatives of the High Commission, the University leadership and the Indian student community.
The University of Limassol expressed its sincere appreciation to the High Commissioner of India for this meaningful visit and said it looks forward to further strengthening its ties with Indian academic partners. The University, it added, remains committed to building bridges across borders and creating impactful educational opportunities that benefit students, researchers, and society at large.
