Government launches public administration digital upgrade, with introduction of Microsoft Copilot

The GenAI tool Microsoft Copilot was presented to members of the Council of Ministers, marking the launch of its implementation in public administration, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nicodemos Damianou said.

Taking to the deputy ministry’s LinkedIn page, Damianou said 350 public servants would be receiving user licences in the first phase.

“The introduction of tools like Copilot aims to support public servants in their daily work, making task execution easier and faster, while allowing them to focus on what truly matters: serving the citizen,” the deputy minister said. He added that this was “an important step in the state’s digital upgrade”, and part of the “broader effort to leverage the potential of artificial intelligence in the public sector”.

Concluding, Damianou said the goal was to build a modern digital governance model that embraces innovation and harnesses technology as a tool for transformation and progress.
