Eurostat identifies Cyprus as the only EU country with zero inflation in August

Cyprus was the only EU country with zero annual inflation (0.0%) in August 2025, according to official data released by Eurostat. The country stood out during a period when the eurozone average inflation rate was 2.0%, and the EU average was 2.4%.

Τhe lowest inflation rates were also recorded in France (0.8%) and Italy (1.6%), while the highest were seen in Romania (8.5%), Estonia (6.2%), and Croatia (4.6%).

The data shows that, unlike other member states where prices increased, Cyprus experienced stable prices.

At the EU level, the biggest inflationary pressures came from services (+1.44%), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (+0.62%), and non-energy industrial goods (+0.18%), while energy contributed negatively (-0.19%).
