Tourist arrivals in August record annual increase of 8.5%

Τourist arrivals in Cyprus in August reached 602,026 compared to 554,923 the same month last year, recording an increase of 8.5%.

According to CySTAT, for the period of January – August 2025, arrivals of tourists totaled 3,034,155 compared to 2,758,627 in the corresponding period of 2024, recording an increase of 10.0%.

Arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for August 2025, with a share of 32.1% (193,091) of total arrivals, followed by Israel with 17.5% (105,597), Poland with 7.0% (41,844), Germany with 4.6% (27,665), Sweden with 3.1% (18,636) and Romania with 3.0% (18,300).

For a percentage of 86.5% of tourists, the purpose of their trip in August 2025 was holidays, for 11.4% visit to friends and relatives and for 2.1% business. Respectively, in August 2024, 87.3% of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 10.2% visited friends or relatives and 2.5% visited Cyprus for business reasons.

Returns of residents of Cyprus from trips abroad up by 23.9%

Meanwhile, a total number of 238,740 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in August 2025 compared to 192,756 in the corresponding month last year, recording an increase of 23.9%.

The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned in August 2025 were Greece with a share of 33.1% (78,915), the United Kingdom with 6.8% (16,197), Russia with 5.1% (12,084) and Italy with 5.0% (11,824).

The purpose of travel for the residents of Cyprus in August 2025 was mainly holidays, with a percentage of 91.6%, whilst business reasons held a percentage of 6.7%, studies 1.3% and other reasons 0.4%.
