Limassol Municipality has inaugurated the 'Aktaia Odos' coastal road pedestrian and cycle path.
Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis spoke of a pilot project of "substance and spirit" when inaugurating the pedestrian/cycle path on 'Aktaia Odos', which is part of the strategic plan for Limassol 2030.
Aktaia Odos, as he mentioned at the 12 September inauguration, is transforming a degraded area into an accessible and welcoming space, with a pedestrian and bicycle path, lighting, trees and cooling asphalt that reduces the overall temperature.

The project, he added, includes new connections joining Tsiflikoudia and Ayios Ioannis with the centre and the coastal front, while at the same time a new 350-meter-long beach is being created, through the removal of thousands of tons of waste, "in order to provide citizens with a modern, safe and sustainable public space."
"Today, we are not just inaugurating a project. We are inaugurating a new logic, more direct and more effective," he said, noting that "we are moving forward with interventions now, quickly, that change everyday life, without waiting for long-term studies and time-consuming procedures."
As indicated by the Mayor of Limassol, the next step concerns the cleaning of the seabed, which is scheduled for 27 September, with the support of the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI).
