The Cyprus International Businesses Association (CIBA) has submitted its positions on the issue of tax reform within the framework of the public consultation.
According to the Association's announcement, as the organised voice of the international business community, "CIBA’s positions are the result of consultations conducted with the Association’s member companies and of an in-depth analysis carried out by its Taxation and Legal Affairs Committees, which consist of experts in taxation matters."
It continued that CIBA’s positions, which focus mainly on the competitiveness of the Cypriot economy, are not limited to comments on specific provisions of the draft Bills under review, but also include substantiated legal and economic analysis and, in many cases, recommendations on how the government and the competent authorities should approach the tax reform.
"CIBA declares its readiness to cooperate both with the competent authorities and with parliamentary parties, as well as with all relevant stakeholders, so that any tax reform creates conditions and a framework for the further development of the Cypriot economy, while adhering to the principles of proportionality and legal certainty. At the same time, it should offer stability and predictability to international businesses and potential new investors, taking into account the tax regimes of other states, particularly those maintaining a highly competitive framework," the Association's announcement concluded.
