Deputy Commissioner of Communications Petros Galides participated in the Global Symposium for Regulators 2025 (GSR-25), recently held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The 31 August to 3 September event was organised by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) of Saudi Arabia in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under the theme 'Regulation for Sustainable Digital Development.'
As noted in an announcement from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Communications, Galides attended the Symposium in his capacities as Chairman of the European and Mediterranean Regulators Group for Electronic Communications (EMERG) and Member of the Board of the Digital Regulation Network (DRN) of the ITU.
In his intervention at the Regional Regulatory Associations and Digital Regulation Network (DRN) Meeting, he underlined the importance of continuing close cooperation with the ITU and Regional Regulatory Associations, leveraging the DRN platform to foster sustainable, forward-looking, and inclusive regulatory ecosystems that benefit citizens, businesses, and economies.
As Chairman of EMERG, he highlighted the Group’s role as a trusted platform of 26 regulatory authorities, focusing on harmonising regulatory approaches, sharing knowledge, and strengthening regional and international cooperation.
