Andreas Kritiotis joins the Board of Directors of the Bank of Cyprus

The European Central Bank approved the appointment of Dr. Andreas Kritiotis as an independent non-executive member of the Board of Directors of Bank of Cyprus, with the appointment also valid for the Board of Directors of BOC Holdings, with the bank announcing the appointment to the Cyprus Stock Exchange on 1 September. 

It is noted that the approval for the appointment of Andreas Kritiotis follows the approval - on 6 August - of the appointment of George Syrichas also as an independent non-executive member of the Board of Directors of Bank of Cyprus.

Dr. Kritiotis has extensive experience as a Non-Executive Director in the banking sector and has executive experience in leadership positions in various sectors, including the insurance sector.

Dr. Kritiotis served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ancoria Bank Ltd from 2019 to 2023 and as an Independent Director of Alpha Bank (Cyprus) Ltd from 2010 to 2019.

He also held the positions of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Life Insurance Public Co Ltd from 2012 to 2018 and member of the Board of Governors at the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM).

His most recent non-executive position was that of Chairman of the Board of Directors at Payabl CY Ltd.

His career includes serving as General Manager of EuroLife Ltd from 1996 to 2007, founding Cerithium Ltd, an independent consulting firm that provided strategy advice to private companies, and serving as Vice President for Operations at the Cyprus Institute.

Dr. Kritiotis holds a PhD and MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he also completed a programme in Computer Science, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.
