Highest midday power demand of the year anticipated to have been this week, official data show

The highest overall electricity demand for midday this year is expected to have been recorded on Monday, 7 July, according to data published on the website of the Cyprus Transmission System Operator (TSO), indicating that demand may set a new record for the year by the afternoon of that day.
Specifically, at 12.15pm on Monday, the total electricity demand stood at 1,046 Megawatts (MW), while at the same time on previous days in July, demand at that hour was below 1,000 MW.
The record electricity demand in July for an entire day was recorded on 2 July, when at 4.15pm when it reached 1,062 MW.
The highest daily electricity demand for 2025 so far was recorded on 27 June at 2.30pm, reaching 1,077 MW, while the second-highest was observed the previous day, 26 June, at 4.15pm, reaching 1,065 MW.
At the same time, conventional electricity generation amounted to 420 MW, solar photovoltaic production to 596 MW, and wind power production to 31 MW.
According to the TSO website, the installed capacity by technology for Monday, 7 July was as follows: conventional installed capacity at 1,478 MW, wind power installed capacity at 155.1 MW, solar photovoltaic installed capacity at 839.92 MW, and biomass installed capacity at 12.4 MW.
