Wizz Air has announced a significant milestone in its journey to revolutionise air travel – exceeding 1,000 flights per day across its network.
The 1000th flight departed on Friday, 25 July, from Bacau to London Luton, as the airline continues to expand its regional connectivity and support local communities, a press release noted.
"This historic achievement places Wizz Air among the leading airlines in Europe and marks a major step forward in delivering on its Customer First Initiative bringing more affordable, accessible travel options to 75 million passengers this year," it continued.
Wizz Air carries over 200,000 passengers every single day, demonstrating the growing demand for low-cost, high-quality air travel across its expanding network. With an average of one Wizz Air aircraft taking off every 90 seconds, the airline says it is playing a vital role in keeping Europe and beyond connected.
"With over 8,000 pilots and cabin crew working every day to power its operations, Wizz Air is not only growing its internal workforce but also fuelling job creation across the aviation and tourism sectors wherever it flies to. The airline’s network connects with over 200 airports in 50+ countries, with more than 800 routes supporting economic growth, mobility, and cultural exchange across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond," the press release said.
Operating one of the youngest and most modern fleets in the world, Wizz Air is on track to fly an all-Airbus A321neo fleet by 2028. "These next-generation aircraft offer a 50% reduction in noise footprint, a 20% reduction in fuel consumption, and a 50% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions compared to previous-generation models," the airline underlined.
This latest milestone aligns with the airline’s bold W500 vision, which aims to grow the Wizz Air fleet to 500 aircraft, while continuing to deliver low fares, reduce emissions and expand its global footprint. The W500 vision represents Wizz Air’s ambition to be the most efficient and environmentally sustainable airline of the future, transforming air travel while empowering economic progress across the regions it serves.
József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air, commented, "Surpassing 1,000 flights per day is not just a number – it’s a symbol of our commitment to making air travel more accessible and affordable and a testament to the strength of our ultra-low-cost mode. This milestone is a tribute to our incredible team and the continued trust of our loyal passengers, who recognise Wizz Air’s distinctive value: low fares, reliable service, and an ever-expanding network. We remain focused on growth with purpose - enabling travel that empowers communities and contribute to sustainable economic development across the regions we serve."
