Heatwave to continue Monday, temperatures to start dropping Tuesday but humidity levels to remain high
08:19 - 28 July 2025

Temperatures are expected to reach 40-41 degrees Celsius inland on Monday, 28 July with increased humidity levels making conditions uncomfortable.
However, a gradual, mild decrease in temperature is predicted from Tuesday onwards, Andreas Hadjigeorgiou, of the Meteorological Service told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
According to Hadjigeorgiou, the temperature on Monday is expected to reach 40-41 degrees C inland, 32C in the mountains, and will range from 32C to 35C along the coast.
On Tuesday, a temperature drop of one degree is anticipated while the highest inland temperature will be 39C, reaching 31C over the mountains and will range from 31C to 34C along the coast.
Temperatures will continue dropping on Wednesday by another degree, reaching 38C inland and 29C in the mountains, while coastal areas are expected to remain stable at 31-34C.
Similar conditions are expected on Thursday and Friday, with the mercury stabilising at 37C inland, 29C in the mountains, and between 31C and 34C along the coast.
Together with the high temperatures, humidity will gradually rise from Monday, reaching 50% during the day and 60% to 90% at night. On Tuesday and Wednesday, humidity will remain high, especially in coastal areas (40-80%).
Regarding winds, from Tuesday and especially Wednesday, occasional strong winds are expected on the windward side, reaching 5 to 6 Beaufort.
Asked if the current heatwave breaks any records, Hadjigeorgiou clarified that while it may set a record for consecutive days with an orange warning, it is not a record for the duration of the heatwave, as last year there was a period of 12-13 consecutive days with extremely high temperatures.
