President announces upcoming visit by Emmanuel Macron

President Nikos Christodoulides announced that French President Emmanuel Macron will be paying Cyprus an official visit soon.
Addressing a reception hosted by the Ambassador of France to mark anniversary of Bastille Day, Christodoulides said relations between Cyprus and France will gain a renewed momentum with the upcoming visit.
He said the during the visit, the two presidents will sign a “renewed, upgraded strategic partnership that will further elevate and expand our close ties”.
To prepare for the visit, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs will arrive in Cyprus before the end of July, he added.
Christodoulides said Cyprus and France are committed to strengthening their enduring partnership, working together confidently to promote regional stability, security in the Eastern Mediterranean, and a stronger, influential EU, with Cyprus remaining a steadfast and vital ally of France.
"For Cyprus, France represents far more than a reliable and trustworthy ally. It is a steadfast friend, a strategic partner,” he said. “A pillar of European strength and stability. Never has this held more truth since the second world war – at a time when war has returned in our continent, following Russia’s illegal aggression against Ukraine.”
