Middle East developments will affect Greece - Cyprus approach, President says

Developments in the Middle East will affect the way Greece, Cyprus and other like-minded countries approach the situation in the region, President Nikos Christodoulides has said.

President Christodoulides was speaking at the beginning of a meeting he had with a delegation of the American Hellenic Institute (AHI), at the Presidential Palace, in Nicosia on 23 June.

Addressing the AHI delegation, he said they are visiting Cyprus and the region "in very interesting times".

The President also noted that during the meeting they would discuss "the developments, which will not only influence or affect our region, but also the United States and the way that Greece and Cyprus and like-minded countries in the region and at international level should approach," the situation in the region.

The AHI delegation consisted of its President, Nick Laryngakis, and a group of American students visiting Cyprus as part of an annual AHI programme.
