Cyprus participates in European Space Agency Conference in Italy

Fifteen representatives from Cyprus participated in the European Space Agency (ESA) conference titled 'New Capabilities and Countries in European Space' held at the ESA/ESRIN facilities in Frascati, Italy.

The 14–15 May event brought together 300 participants from 18 different countries.

Cyprus was represented by 13 Cypriot companies and organisations, along with delegates from the Department of Electronic Communications of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy (Cyprus Space Office).

According to a press release issued by the Deputy Ministry, the conference offered significant opportunities for networking and the development of international collaborations, reinforcing Cyprus’ role in the European space sector. The presence of the Cypriot delegation highlighted the country’s steady progress in the space domain and the contribution of domestic entities to innovation, the press release read.

The process of Cyprus’ accession as an Associate Member of the European Space Agency is ongoing and is already yielding positive results, expanding opportunities for strategic partnerships and participation in high value-added projects, it is noted.

The Department of Electronic Communications reaffirmed its commitment to continuing active participation in international space initiatives, promoting Cypriot space technologies, and expanding cooperation opportunities for Cypriot stakeholders.

As highlighted, at the opening of the conference, the company Geofem was invited to present best practices gained from its participation in the ESA PECS program, and explained in detail how the program helped expand its business activities at the European and international level.
