Building permits down 24% y-o-y in January, with total value up 4.3%

A reduction of 24% has been recorded in the number of building permits issued during January 2025, compared to the same month of 2024, according to CySTAT.

The total number of building permits stood at 446. The total value of these permits reached €230.8 million, up 4.3% compared to January 2024. The total area was 189.9 thousand square metres, down 4.2%.

These building permits provide for the construction of 838 dwelling units, up 0.5%, compared to last January.

It is noted that as of 1st July 2024, the authority of issuing building permits was transferred from the municipalities and the district administration offices to the newly founded District Local Government Organisation (EOAs) and the licensing process is performed through the new integrated Ippodamos information system.
