US Ambassador highlights role of American investments in Cyprus' economic development

US Ambassador to Cyprus Julie Davis has stressed the crucial role of American investments in the economic development of Cyprus, highlighting opportunities in tourism, real estate, investment in higher education, sustainable energy and the attraction of international business centres.

Davis was speaking during an event entitled "USA - Cyprus: strengthening trade and economic ties", held at the Neapolis University Pafos. According to a press release issued by the University, she also spoke favourably of the long and successful relationship between the business community of the Republic of Cyprus and major American companies.

The event, organised in the context of strengthening trade and economic relations between Cyprus and the United States, commenced with introductory comments from the President of the University Council, George M. Leptos, the Rector of the University, Professor Pantelis Sklias, and Davis.

The event's panel, moderated by Professor Pantelis Sklias, Rector, included presentations by Davis, Invest Cyprus CEO Marios Tannousis, Yannis Georgoulas, Board Member, US Chamber of Commerce Cyprus and Chairman of the Economic Development & Fintech Committee and Andreas Panayi, Co-Founder, Kinisis Ventures Ltd. & KV Fund Investment Advisory Committee. The speakers analysed the prospects and challenges for start-ups, the need for institutional and financial support, and the role of research centres of excellence in Cyprus' economic development and international outreach.

The event concluded with an open discussion and questions from the audience, demonstrating the strong interest in strengthening commercial and economic ties between Cyprus and the United States.

As it is noted, Ambassador Davis welcomed the warm welcome she has always received in Paphos and the lively exchange of views, while the Rector of the Neapolis University Pafos, thanked all participants and reiterated the University's commitment to continuing to promote dialogue and cooperation on key economic development issues.
