Energy Minister to take part in EU Council of Energy Ministers meeting in Brussels

Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, George Papanastasiou, will participate in the Council of Energy Ministers of the European Union that will take place in Brussels on Monday, 17 March.

According to an official press release, on the sidelines of the Council, Papanastasiou will also meet with European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, and will also participate in a meeting of the "Friends of Renewables" group of countries, to discuss the formulation of proposals to the European Commission on affordable energy and energy security in the EU, in the light of Renewable Energy Sources.

The agenda of the EU Energy Ministers' Council includes ia a discussion on the Affordable Energy Action Plan, a discussion on the EU energy security architecture and a briefing by the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) on key developments in the EU electricity and gas markets.

Papanastasiou will return to Cyprus on Tuesday, 18 March 2025.
