Central Bank Governor addresses Shipping Chamber’s Monthly Members’ Meeting

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber welcomed the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus and member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank, Dr Christodoulos Patsalides, at its Monthly Members’ Meeting, which was held on 6 February in Limassol.

The Chamber’s members had the opportunity to watch an interesting presentation from Dr Patsalides entitled “Cyprus and the Euro Area: Navigating Growth, Stability and Opportunities”.

During his presentation, the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus delivered an insightful analysis of the country's economic resilience and key challenges. He highlighted Cyprus’s strong GDP growth, declining unemployment and solid fiscal performance, underscoring the nation’s steady economic progress. He also emphasised the remarkable advancements in the banking sector and the crucial role of the Shipping Industry in driving export revenues and job creation for Cyprus residents.

Furthermore, the Governor referred to the broader Euro Area economic outlook, touching upon the European Central Bank’s monetary policy decisions, emphasising their role in maintaining price stability while balancing the need to support sustainable growth across the region.

At the end of the presentation, participants had the opportunity to discuss and network, exchanging views on the matters presented.
