Registered unemployed rate down 9% y-o-y in August

The rate of registered unemployed persons at end-August marked an annual reduction of 8.9% (or 1,177 persons), amounting to 12,079 persons according to CyStat.

Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for August 2024 reached 11,197 persons remaining at the same level in compared with the previous month.

Compared with August 2023, the registered unemployed persons dropped by 1,177 persons or 8.9% was recorded, driven mainly to the sectors of financial and insurance activities, construction, trade, manufacturing, as well as to the decrease recorded for newcomers in the labour market, CyStat added.
