CUT joins Erasmus+ project to enhance paediatric nursing education

The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is participating in the Erasmus+ research project "Extended Reality Learning Framework for Paediatric Nursing Students – PeDXR."

The university said that the Department of Nursing is partnering with the academic institutions Thomas More Kempen (Belgium), Medical University Sofia (Bulgaria), the IT services company Theofanis Alexandridis Kai Sia EE (Greece) and the Hellenic Paediatric Nursing Association (Greece). The initiative is coordinated by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The PeDXR project aims to create an innovative learning framework that leverages Extended Reality (XR) technologies to train paediatric nursing students. This framework will provide a structured approach to paediatric nursing education, combining XR tools with best practices and educational programs. The goal is to enhance the quality of care provided by future nurses through hands-on learning experiences in virtual environments.

Paediatric nursing students will use the XR Application (XRA) to engage in realistic simulations of healthcare scenarios, allowing them to develop critical skills and confidence in a safe, controlled setting. The project also seeks to foster international collaboration and knowledge exchange among European institutions, with potential adoption by other universities across Europe.
