US Ambassador welcomes announcement on Aphrodite gas field

US Ambassador in Cyprus, Julie Davis Fisher, has welcomed the announcement about the Aphrodite gas field in Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone.

"Leadership matters. This announcement is good news for Cyprus and good news for those committed to progress on Aphrodite. I welcome this positive step and look forward to momentum in the weeks and months ahead between ⁦⁦Chevron’s consortium and the Ministry of Energy", she wrote on 'X'.

The Ambassador was referring to the joint press release by the Ministry of Energy of Cyprus and Chevron that said that George Papanastasiou, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Cyprus, and Frank Cassulo, Chevron Vice President of International E&P, held constructive meetings this week in Nicosia regarding the Aphrodite project.

The Republic of Cyprus and Chevron have agreed to hold discussions over the next four months in order to seek an amicable solution that ensures the development of the Aphrodite gas field without further delays, the Minister said.
