Cyprus Shipping Chamber holds blood donation drive in honour of seafarers profession

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber honoured the seafarers profession in the context of its bi-annual blood donation drive organized on 18 June, at Ayios Georgios of Havouza Church in Limassol.

Volunteers from the Chamber’s Member-Companies conveyed a message of hope and honoured the seafarers profession, in view of “Seafarers Day” on 25 June, established by an initiative of the International Maritime Organization.

On this occasion, this blood donation drive was also placed under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Shipping, an announcement from the Chamber said, adding,"The response was heartwarming as over 56 units of blood were collected."

During the past 31 years, the Chamber has been carrying out blood donations every 6 months collecting more than 3,396 units of blood.

"The blood donation drives present an opportunity to the Maritime community to show their solidarity and the Chamber warmly thanks its Member-Company volunteers for their contribution. Furthermore, it expresses its commitment in to continue supporting initiatives that contribute to the well-being and health of Cypriot society. The next blood donation drive will be held in December 2024," the Chamber said.
