Hope For Children announces Summer School for second consecutive year

“Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center announced that it will be operating a Summer School for the second consecutive year.

Through the Summer School, adolescents from various social groups (ages 12-16) will enhance their leadership, communication, and organisational skills, develop critical thinking, and enrich their knowledge on child protection issues.

The "Summer School" by Hope For Children will last for 2 weeks, from Monday, July 1 to Friday, July 12, 2024, between 09:00-15:00 at the European University in Nicosia, and from Monday, July 15 to Friday, July 26, 2024, at the same hours, in Larnaca (location to be announced soon). Participation for all children is free. Snacks and lunch will be provided to participants during the program.

Participants, through discussions and activities, will explore various issues such as cyber-bullying, school bullying, racism, acceptance and uniqueness of diversity, hate speech against socially vulnerable groups, and gender-based violence. Through the approach of non-formal education, teenagers will gain a deeper understanding of how these issues affect them personally and the broader society, and what they can do to exercise their Rights as outlined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and to prevent any violations.

The summer program's activities are divided into 6 main areas, which are: cooperation, boosting self-confidence and self-esteem, communication and active listening, problem/conflict resolution, emotions and empathy, and enhancing critical thinking.

Upon completion of the summer program, all participants, if they wish, will have the opportunity to join the large family of the Organization’s young ambassadors.
