Registered unemployed down 13.8% in February, on annual basis

The number of people who registered as unemployed in February 2024 fell by 13.8% compared to the corresponding month of 2023, data released by CySTAT show.

Compared to February 2023, a decrease of 2,293 registered unemployed was recorded, from 14,304 to 11,687, attributed mainly to the sectors of financial and insurance activities, trade, construction, accommodation and food service activities, as well as to the decrease recorded for newcomers in the labour market, CyStat said in a press release.

It added that seasonally adjusted unemployment trend data show that the number of 11,687 registered unemployed in February 2024 also represents a decrease compared to the previous month (11,823), continuing the downward trend observed throughout last year.
