Energy Minister participating in WTO Conference in Abu Dhabi

Cyprus' Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, George Papanastasiou, is in Abu Dhabi for the World Trade Organisation's Ministerial Conference (MC13) taking place from 26 to 29 February.

Ministers from across the world will attend to review the functioning of the multilateral trading system and to take action on the future work of the WTO. The Conference will be chaired by H.E. Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Trade.

The WTO's reform is necessary for a stable, rules-based, predictable trading system that acts as a buffer against an increasingly unpredictable global economic environment, an official press release said.

In the framework of the Ministerial Conference, Minister Papanastasiou took part in the deliberations of the EU External Affairs Council (Commerce) meeting that was held on Sunday, 25 February.
