CySEC broadens the cases where drawing up a prospectus in English is accepted

The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has published a Consultation Paper on amending the accepted languages for a prospectus.

The aims is to broaden the number of cases in which CySEC accepts a prospectus to be drawn up in English, which is a language customary in the sphere of international finance.

"CySEC also proposes that the summary of the prospectus be also made available in Greek," it said in a press release.

According CySEC's current policy, a prospectus should be typically drawn in Greek, except for certain cases where English is accepted subject to conditions. "CySEC’s proposal to amend its approach on the accepted languages for a Prospectus, whilst requiring that the summary thereof, which contains the essential information to take an investment decision, is also made available in Greek, aims at ensuring investor protection in a proportionate manner," it said.
