Ugne Buraciene: The landscape for business here improved significantly over the past 10 years

The business landscape in Cyprus has improved significantly over the past 10 years, according to Ugne Buraciene, CEO of payabl., who was asked to explain why the global pay tech leader has chosen the island for its headquarters in an interview for Invest Cyprus’ Working and Living in Cyprus series.

payabl. was established in 2010, and at the time the owners of the company chose Cyprus for its headquarters for multiple reasons, says Buraciene.

Regulatory-wise, it was pretty efficient to set up a payment company and get started fast. There was also no language barrier that made it easier to employ people.

And as the company grew, there were even more reasons why it chose to continue on the island and remain until this day.
