Cyprus participates in international Food and Hospitality exhibitions in China

The Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, in cooperation with the Trade Centre of the Republic of Cyprus in Beijing, participated with a country pavilion in the Food and Hospitality China (FHC) 2024 International Food and Beverage Exhibition and the Prowine Shanghai 2024 International Wine and Spirits Exhibition, which took place in Shanghai from 12 to 14 November, 2024.

According to an announcement issued by the Ministry, Cyprus' participation, as part of efforts to enhance the extroversion of Cypriot businesses and the promotion of Cypriot products in foreign markets, comprised seven companies from Cyprus active in various product sectors, such as cheese and halloumi, juices, wine, commandaria, zivania, beer, as well as other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

It is added that the Cypriot pavilions attracted a large number of businessmen, professionals, and traders from China and other countries who had the opportunity to taste the products sent from Cyprus, especially for these exhibitions, thus contributing to the enhancement of the visibility and export potential of Cypriot products.

It is also noted that important for Cyprus was the inclusion of Cypriot products in the tasting events that took place at the European Union's exhibition stand, with the preparation of a dish according to a recipe of Cypriot chefs, with halloumi and commandaria as the main ingredients.

It is added that the two exhibitions are considered a benchmark for professionals in the sector, creating the ideal environment for the commercial promotion of products internationally and especially in the Chinese market, with the FHC 2024 exhibition, which was held this year for the 27th time, being visited by 171,828 professionals, while around 3,000 exhibitors from 50 countries participated.

Similarly, Prowine Shanghai 2024, which was held for the 11th year, was attended by 20,860 professionals, along with 650 exhibitors from 32 countries, the statement concluded.

Earlier in November, Cyprus participated in the 7th China International Import Expo in Shanghai, at the beginning of November, and treated visitors at its stand with traditional products like commandaria wine, zivania and halloumi cheese.

The pavilion was operated by the Cyprus Trade Center in Beijing on behalf of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry.

A Ministry press release says that Cyprus’ participation in the exhibition was an excellent opportunity to promote our country and strengthen its trade relations with China and other countries.

A large number of consumers, businessmen, traders and officials from China and other countries visited the stand and had the opportunity to learn about the quality Cypriot products, as well as the advantages of Cyprus as an international business center.

The China International Import Expo has been held annually since 2018 and is one of the largest international trade fairs held in the country. This year's event hosted 3,496 companies from 152 countries and regions in China, attracting over 852,000 visitors.
