Polycarpou: AKEL’s proposals for a strong economy not for the few

The economy must focus on people and their needs, the Head of AKEL’s Economic Studies Bureau, Haris Polycarpou, has said, speaking at the party's 3rd Economic Forum, entitled ‘A Strong Economy for All: Sustainable - Socially Oriented’.

Polycarpou cautioned against economic inequality in the country, which, he warned, is growing.

Polycarpou referred to the party's proposals, which he said were in the context of a coherent plan for the economy.

Continuing on this and referring to opposing positions, he said: "We have the ability to listen and evaluate all proposals and positions and in the end the result leads to realistic proposals."

He emphasised that AKEL seeks a strong economy not for the few, but an economy that focuses on people and their needs.

At this point Polycarpou said he found that economic inequalities are growing.

Finally, he clarified that "we do not want a stagnant economy" and that it needs to be enlarged, as long as it "ensures the well-being of the people."
