Open Day BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0: The Good Practices and the Fintech Future

An Open Day showcasing the event recently kickstarted the BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0, which will be held physically from 18 to 20 October at IDEA Innovation Center in Nicosia.

Held on 26 September, the Open Day aimed at presenting the Hackathon's goal, process, available tools, and challenges and enjoyed great participation with more than 50 registered participants.

The Open Day started with a short presentation from Lia Ioannou, Head IT Performance & Relationship Management at Bank Cyprus, who explained the main goal of this initiative and the importance of innovation in the Fintech sector. Ioannou also invited the participants to join BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0, and enjoy the hackathon

Afterwards, the partners who support BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 made short greetings to the participants and spread messages of support to the contestants.

Then, the Open Day discussion moved to Tools, Fintech Apps and APIs.

Christos Nikolaou, Enterprise Architect, Bank of Cyprus, briefly presented the APIs of Bank Of Cyprus and also the way to use the APIs easily and fast.

Also, Andreas Michaelides, Chief Product Officer at Jinius by Bank of Cyprus and Angelos Constantinides, Technical Lead at Jinius by Bank of Cyprus, gave a short presentation about the Jinius Marketplace and the usage of the Jinius APIs.

The discussion afterwards led to Good Practices and Fintech Examples. Marinos Xynarianos, Open Banking & Fintech Expert, gave a short presentation about the good practices and the disruptive technologies that can change the fintech Future.

Last but not least, George Karamanolis, Co-founder, CTO/CIO from Crowdpolicy, took the floor and presented the process, the goal, and the challenges, and the available resources and tools and examples that the contestants can refer to at the hackathon.

The goal of BoC Fintech Hackathon 5.0 is to create innovative solutions in the Fintech domain, up to the stage of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), with the perspective of future development into full-fledged functional applications. This is the 5th innovation marathon for the development of solutions and applications in the Fintech sector!
