Bank of Greece Deputy Governor pays working visit to Cyprus

Bank of Greece Deputy Governor, Christina Papaconstantinou, recently paid a working visit to Cyprus at the invitation of the Central Bank of Cyprus Governor, Constantinos Herodotou.

According to a press release issued by the Central Bank of Cyprus, Papaconstantinou had a private meeting with Herodotou, during which they discussed, among others, the economic prospects of the Eurozone, issues related to the financial sector as well as the course of the Cypriot and the Greek economy.

After that, accompanied by Herodotou, the Deputy Governor met with members of the staff of CBC. Among the issues discussed was the further enhancement of the cooperation between the Central Bank of Cyprus and the Bank of Greece.

During her visit to Cyprus, Papaconstantinou attended a meeting hosted by Herodotou, with the participation of the House President, Annita Demetriou, and the Chairwoman of the House Financial and Budgetary Affairs Committee, Christiana Erotokritou. 

Papaconstantinou stated during her visit that "in the framework of our competencies we will enhance dialogue and cooperation with the Central Bank of Cyprus with a view to be ready to address common challenges and contribute to institutional developments in the EU."

On his part, Herodotou said that Papaconstantinou's visit highlights the strong ties of the Central Bank of Cyprus with the Bank of Greece.

He added that they had a fruitful discussion on the future of the European economy and the current challenges, noting that their exchange of views is always very constructive.
