Bounced cheques amounted to €112,717 in July

A total of 36 bounced cheques, worth €112,717, were issued in July 2023, with 18 persons (11 legal entities and 7 natural persons) registered in the preliminary list of the Central Information Register for the Issuers of Dishonoured Cheques (CIR), maintained by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).

During the first seven months of 2023, according to data announced by the CBC, 233 cheques with a total value of €615,810 were registered in the preliminary list of the CIR, involving 130 persons (73 legal entities and 57 individuals), recording a decrease compared to the same period of 2022, when 260 cheques with a total value of €977,816 were registered.

In addition, according to CBC data, 21 persons were registered in the CIR in May 2023, of which 8 are legal entities, 3 natural persons, and 10 natural persons controlling legal entities.

During the period January - July 2023, a total of 179 persons were registered in the CIR, compared to 130 persons in the same period in 2022.
